Encaustic painting is a method that dates back to ancient times. "Encaustic" comes from Greek, meaning "to burn in". Layers of pigmented beeswax are applied to the painting and fused with a torch. Charred bamboo pieces were attached.
While encaustic paintings are durable, as with any fine art, they should not be exposed to direct sunlight or heat.
