Raku means enjoyment, comfort, or ease. This piece was thrown on a wheel then bisque-fired. After glazing with multiple glazes, I fired it in a propane kiln to about 1800 degrees. When the pot reached temperature and was glowing, I removed it with tongs and placed it in a reduction container with combustibles. When cooled slightly, I removed the piece and plunged it in water. Pine needles were woven onto the top. ~4x4 inches
Raku pottery remains porous after firing and is therefore not suitable for liquids.
